The Society was formed in 1993 and is a member of the
Federation of Family
History Societies. Our aim is to encourage and assist
anyone interested in tracing the history of Quaker families,
particularly in Britain and Ireland. We are based in
Britain, so do not claim any expertise on the history of
Quakers in America. We do of course welcome any members who
have an interest in British or Irish Quakers.
We are a not a Quaker organisation and
membership is open to
anyone who is interested in British or Irish Quakers. Our
members include
- Family Historians with Quaker ancestors
- Friends (Quakers) with an interest in history, including that
of their local Meeting.
- Those who wish to learn about their British
or Irish Quaker
ancestors
One-day
Meetings
In addition to our June Annual General Meeting and talk
in central London, we organise two regional one-day
meetings. You will have the opportunity to hear talks on
research methods and family histories, the chance to meet
others with similar interests, browse the bookstall and
members' displays.
Quaker
Connections
Our journal, Quaker Connections, is published three
times a year, and contains details of members' researches,
book reviews and events. Back issues are available from the
Membership Secretary.
Members'
Interests
A Members' Interests Directory listing families being
researched by members was first published in June 1995, with the most
recent edition in 2005. Each issue
of Quaker Connections also contains details of new
members' interests.
